Proverbs 31:14 – She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar.
Upon first glance you might think that there is no way we can apply this verse to our lives today. We have grocery stores on every corner. We don’t have to bring in our food from far away places. The point here is that she took the time to find the very best for her family. She prepared good and wholesome meals for her family.
We live in a time where the McDonald’s on every corner is easy, fast, and cheap. This is a verse that I will really struggle with. And to be completely honest, I don’t know how I will make the changes.
We need to make time to prepare meals for our families. The most important thing we can give our children, is family time. If that means we have to cut back on some of their other activities, then so be it.
We have to bring our schedules to the Lord in prayer. Ask Him to help us. I guarantee you that He will show us the way.
In prayer after studying this verse, we should thank God for all the conveniences He has given us, to be able to provide home cooked meals, without having to bring food in via ship, from afar. Pray for the ability to put forth the effort to provide home cooked meals for your family.
